Video Tape to DVD Conversion

There was a time when VHS tapes were considered the bees-knees. Maybe you’ve got some of the important milestones in your childrens’ development but your VHS player has given up the ghost. Or you have a Mini DV camcorder but would like to be able to stick the footage in a DVD player or on your computer. I can convert these tape formats into digital signals that can be burnt to CD or DVD.

With the phase out of VHS tapes in favour of MiniDV, DVD and emerging technologies such as HDTV now is the time to convert your video tapes onto DVD.

Tape Conversion Formats:

• VHS
• miniDV
• 8mm - Hi8

There are several different ways this can be done to suit your budget:

1. A straight conversion from Tape to DVD
   This is a simple transfer of the content of your tape to a DVD. This includes Chapters created at 5 minute intervals. In other words, a 1 hour tape will end up as a DVD with 20 chapters. These are automatically set every 5 minutes and so may not be at very precise points in the movie. With this option a simple DVD Menu is created with simple chapter names - eg. Chapter 1, Chapter 2 etc. This is the most basic service and is ideal if you only need a movie that plays in the background, such as for ambience in a club or just as a low cost option for getting your old tapes onto DVD with no frills.

   Cost: £10 per hour of video tape to be converted.

    

2. A conversion from VHS to DVD with Descriptive Chapters and Menus
   As above but allows chapter points with descriptive names, eg. 'School Football Final', 'School Play' etc. To do this, you need to go through your tape and make a note of the time intervals that you want the Chapters to occur and send this to me with the descriptive titles for each chapter.

   Cost: £20

    

3. Fully Edited Video
   This is if you want to refine the original video footage that's on the tape. Perhaps there are blank parts that you would like to cut out or a lot of irrelevant bits that don't need to be in there. Or maybe you would just like to make a shortened summarised version and then put it on to DVD.

Local Collection/Delivery

If you live local to me (ie. Northern Ireland/border regions of the Republic of Ireland) I can give you details of where to go if you want to deliver the tapes to me. I can collect and deliver them to you if you would prefer this but please note that there will be an additional charge based upon distance.

Postal Service

With this you can simply post your tapes and I will return them with your completed DVD(s). You can have these returned by Recorded delivery if you wish as this ensures that you can claim compensation from the Post Office in the event of any damage or loss. With Recorded Delivery you get (from Royal Mail, not me):

Postage and Packing Costs

If you live locally to me you have the option to deliver your tapes to me yourself or for me to collect. If you want me to collect then I will need to charge for travel and work time. This also applies to collection of the finished product.

When I have completed the work I will contact you to discuss the method of return. If you want me to post it then I will return it by a Recorded method of posting so that you will have to sign for it. This also means that there is a proof or posting from my end.

Postage costs will vary according to the number of tapes so will be calculated on each individual order.
